Washington basketball reportedly rounds out roster with Rutgers guard

Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies have reportedly filled out their roster allotment with the addition of former Rutgers guard Harun Zrno on Wednesday.

Zrno, a 6-foot-7 and 220-pound freshman for the Scarlet Knights last season, reportedly signed with UW this week, according to On3's Pete Nakos, after he began his basketball journey in Europe as a standout from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 21-year-old started 15 games and made 34 total appearances in his first and only season at Rutgers, averaging 6.5 points and 1.6 rebounds for the Big Ten school. His last start coincidentally came against UW, a 79-72 victory for Sprinkle's squad, which saw Zrno finish with just 2 points in 15 minutes of action.

Zrno scored a season-high 21 points on January 17 against Wisconsin, a 96-87 loss for Rutgers in Madison, knocking down 5-of-10 shots from the floor--all five coming behind the three-point line--while adding six points from the free throw line.

Last season, the Huskies struggled to find consistent three-point shooting, featuring just five games with 10-plus made 3-pointers as a team. The addition of the 21-year-old European gives UW another strong option in the backcourt to pair with returning starter, junior guard Wesley Yates III, along with veteran transfers Ryan Beasley (via San Francisco), Parker Freidrisen (Davidson) and Australian international Tristan Devers.

Prior to moving to the United States, Zrno played professionally in Bosnia's first division for KK Slavija, where he averaged 17.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists over 14 games, proving to be an effective scorer who could play both guard and forward in Sprinkle's system.
