Imagine opening your front door and finding not just one giant kangaroo, but an entire mob of them silently watching your every move. That's exactly what happens to @veronicadownunder in Australia, and it's equal parts hilarious and unsettling.
She jokingly dubbed them the "Aussie Neighborhood Watch," and after watching her video, it's hard to argue with that. Standing shoulder to shoulder, the kangaroos stare at her in perfect unison, making it look less like a chance wildlife encounter and more like they're keeping tabs on everything happening in the neighborhood. Unsurprisingly, viewers (especially us Americans) couldn't stop laughing at the bizarre, and very Australian, scene.
The University of Melbourne explains that kangaroos are naturally curious, but they also stop and watch what's happening around them to assess potential danger. Believe it or not, dogs and dingoes are among their biggest predators.
"Kangaroos avoid attacks by maintaining vigilance, giving warning foot-thumps and fleeing to safety. Large male kangaroos are less likely to flee and may use their size and weapons to defend themselves against any dog that comes too close."
So when something unfamiliar catches their attention, like a person, a strange sound, or a dog, for example, they'll often stand upright and stare until they decide everything is safe. In other words, the "Aussie Neighborhood Watch" really is always watching.

Viewers loved Veronica's video, which now has more than 3 million views and over 13,000 comments; some of the funniest comments were about the huge man at the beginning of the video. @Chris Cade got more than 167,000 likes when he pointed out, "That MF look like he just got out of prison." @Fernie added, "Baby, that’s a gang! LOL!" @Ms.Chris#3 added, "Standing there like, is there a problem...lol"
@Ooo won nearly 95,000 likes when they asked, "Do you owe him money????" Veronica replied, "Yeah, and judging by the look on his face, the interest rate just went up lol!"
Viewer @Deyonce had our favorite comment, wondering, "Why as kids we were given the impression that kangaroos were sweet loving animals - Only to find out they act like gangbanging felons?"
Another commenter cracked us up with, "As a child I used to think kangaroos were cute. As an adult who has access to TikTok, they absolutely are not."
Safe to say, if these kangaroos ever start an HOA, everyone's getting a warning letter.
