NBA 2K revealed its official covers for the upcoming NBA 2K27 video game, with rising superstar Victor Wembanyama gracing the cover of the standard edition of the game.
The San Antonio Spurs big man, who was among last season’s NBA MVP contenders, is joined by the WNBA’s Caitlin Clark on the 2K27 Deluxe Edition and former NBA All-Star Derrick Rose on the 2K Ultra Edition of the game.
Wemby’s appearance on the cover made sense for many based on his body of work this past season. However, actor and comedian Ben Stiller took the opportunity to troll ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania’s announcement based on his well-known fandom.
“Knicks in 5,” the New York Knicks superfan wrote in an X post, reminding everyone that Wemby and the Spurs failed to defeat his team in the NBA Finals.

Stiller also shared an X message from Knicks’ new big man Andre Drummond, who asked, “How’s @jalenbrunson1 not the cover ?”
It’s a good question, seeing as Brunson captured the NBA Finals MVP after leading his team to its first championship in over 53 years. Throughout the Knicks’ Finals run, Brunson’s averages included 32.6 points, 4.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and two steals per game.
Among his performances was his epic Game 5 outing, where he tallied 45 points in 41 minutes to help his team officially win the Larry O’Brien Trophy on the Spurs’ court.
Stiller was enthusiastically along for the ride, attending all of the big games in New York City and even traveling to San Antonio so he could witness the Knicks’ wins with other superfans, including Timothee Chalamet, Spike Lee, and Tracy Morgan.
Through all of the excitement, Stiller also recorded exclusive footage of various viral moments from his courtside perspective using his iPhone. Per ESPN, Stiller reportedly filmed the unique footage for an upcoming HBO documentary series about the Knicks’ historic championship run.
Meanwhile, one has to think Brunson should get his own video game cover at some point, even if he’s not among the NBA MVP conversations each season. If so, he’d only be the second Knicks player in the team’s history to be on a 2K cover, joining last year’s 2K26 Superstar Edition cover star, Carmelo Anthony.
