Blake Lively missed her husband Ryan Reynolds as she attended the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final with a few girlfriends; however, she made sure to give him a glimpse of the global sports event.
On Sunday, July 19, 2026, Lively arrived at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to witness Spain beat defending champion Argentina in the 2026 World Cup 1-0. However, her soccer enthusiast husband, Reynolds, did not make it to the deciding match.
It appears that Lively must have missed his presence at the championship, as one source told a news outlet that she FaceTimed Reynolds from the stadium while watching the nail-biting final.
According to Page Six, an insider revealed that the Gossip Girl alum also spoke “very briefly” with musician Sam Smith, who was also present at the venue.
The publication previously reported that Lively, 38, attended the World Cup final with a few of her “non-famous girlfriends,” including Stoney Clover Lane founders Kendall and Libby Glazer, as well as her longtime friend Emma Gray.
Blake Lively’s public appearance at the match comes just weeks after her once-close friend, Taylor Swift, tied the knot with beau Travis Kelce in New York’s Madison Square Garden earlier this month.
Several reports at the time suggested that Lively and Reynolds did not make it to the roughly 1,000-person guest list of the high-profile wedding, despite being part of Taylor’s inner circle at one point.
For the unversed, Lively and Swift reportedly had a fallout amid the former’s highly publicized lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. During the legal battle, it was reportedly revealed that Lively had asked Swift to talk to Baldoni about her revision of the film script.
Moreover, private chats from December 2024 between the former friends showed Taylor admitting that their relationship had undergone “a little bit of a shift” and Lively’s messages “felt like…a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees.” In August 2025, a source told People that Taylor and Blake “aren’t speaking.”
Last month, a source told Page Six that Swift did not appreciate being roped into Lively’s legal drama with Baldoni. “There hasn’t been an olive branch when it comes to their friendship,” the insider told the publication. “And Taylor hasn’t extended a wedding invitation to Blake.”
“Taylor wants nothing to do with this whole ordeal,” another source added. “She has always been a loyal friend to Blake and doesn’t appreciate being thrown into this at all.”
On July 2, 2026, while roughly 100 guests gathered at MSG for Swift and Kelce’s rehearsal dinner, Lively and Reynolds were spotted in New York’s Placid Lake, where they attended their daughter, Betty’s, horse show. A week after the nuptials that took place on July 3, 2026, the Hollywood couple was reportedly spotted having lunch on the rooftop of a Mexican restaurant in Canada.
Meanwhile, Blake Lively is seeking over $8 million from Justin Baldoni in legal fees and litigation costs after his defamation-related lawsuit against her was dismissed. However, Baldoni has reportedly asked a federal judge to deny or “substantially reduce” the actress’ request, citing it as “anything but a typical fee motion.”
