Ukraine and the US have assessed how strikes inside Russia are influencing the willingness of Russian elites and society to engage in peace talks, according to the Head of Ukraine's Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov.
Budanov said he held a meeting with US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, Commander of the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, and Sandra Oudkirk, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the United States to Ukraine.
According to Budanov, the parties discussed the further development of US-Ukraine relations and the implementation of agreements reached between Kyiv and Washington.
The talks also covered the outcome of the recent meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States in Ankara. One of the key topics was licensing the production of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
"We also reviewed and analyzed the current battlefield situation and the impact of deep and mid-range strikes on both the course of hostilities and the willingness of Russia's elites and society to resume negotiations and end the war," Budanov said.
Earlier, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During their talks, they discussed the implementation of the Drone Deal, the PURL program aimed at strengthening Ukraine's air defenses, and the agreement to license the production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems.
