Lavrov wants to discuss this with Rubio
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold a new meeting on July 23. Putin’s ally has already revealed what he plans to discuss with Trump’s representative, reports Interfax.
"The meeting with Rubio has already been agreed upon," Lavrov said during a press conference in Manila.
According to him, it will take place on Thursday, July 23, in the first half of the day.
The Russian foreign minister added that the Kremlin still believes the White House has not yet abandoned its proposals voiced in Alaska.
"We proceed from the fact that, at least for now, our American colleagues have not rejected their own proposals that were made and which are now already well known to everyone, as there have been many comments," Lavrov said.
He also commented on the recent prediction by US President Donald Trump regarding the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
"As for President Trump's prediction about an approaching settlement, tomorrow I will ask Marco Rubio about it," Lavrov said.
The head of the White House said recently that Russia's war against Ukraine could end before the end of his term, meaning by January 2029.
Journalists also asked Trump what exactly he tells Putin during phone talks.
"I constantly tell him the same thing. I don't want to go into details, but I say: Vladimir, it’s time for you to stop. It’s time to end this war," the US president said.
Meanwhile, Putin sharply changed his rhetoric toward Ukraine after failed talks with Trump.
RBC-Ukraine also reported that the Kremlin plans to set Ukraine up before NATO and has already developed a special plan.
We also reported that Russia's authorities sell off gold at record pace to keep Putin's war funded.
