Two TCU outfielder sign contracts with MLB teams after this month's draft

The Milwaukee Brewers and TCU’s Sawyer Strosnider have agreed to terms on a deal worth $2.1 million.

Strosnider was the No. 66 pick in the 2026 MLB Draft after spending two seasons at TCU where was a freshman All-American and Big 12 Freshman of the Year.

Last season he hit .273 with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs, leading the Horned Frogs in home runs. According to MLB.com the value of his contract was worth $1.35 million.

Initially projected as the 36th best prospect on ESPN, he fell to No. 66 after and up-and-down 2026 season following his breakout freshman campaign.

Strosnider, who played high school baseball at Brock, wasn’t the only Horned Frogs to get signed; Chase Brunson and the Washington Nationals who drafted Brunson at No. 42 overall agreed to deal worth $1.8 million.

Brunson, from San Clemente, California, was All-Big 12 in 2025 and 2026 when he slashed .304 with 10 home runs and 51 RBIs. According to MLB.com his draft slot was worth $2.39 million.

Losing Strosnider and Brunson - both outfielders - will be a blow for the Horned Frogs who have revamped their coaching staff in hopes of getting back to the College World Series.
