It's pretty obvious that the Twins' bullpen has been their biggest weakness in 2026. On Monday morning, Minnesota's relievers ranked 27th in ERA (5.04), 24th in strikeout rate (20.5%), 29th in walk rate (11.6%), and 26th in opponent batting average (.253).
The Twins' bullpen woes were on full display in June. Last month, Minnesota's relievers had an MLB-worst 6.94 ERA.
But in July, the Twins' bullpen has surprisingly been one of the best in baseball.
From July 1-19, the Twins' bullpen ranked third among all 30 MLB teams in ERA (2.25), seventh in strikeout rate (23.4%), and sixth in opponent batting average (.200).
While right-handers Andrew Morris and Yoendrys Gómez have expectedly performed at high levels, improved numbers from Kody Funderburk, Travis Adams and Taylor Rogers have been a huge reason for Minnesota's bullpen resurgence in July.
The Twins have also traded for two relievers this month, acquiring right-hander Woo-Suk Go from the Detroit Tigers and right-hander Tommy Nance from the Toronto Blue Jays. Both relievers have produced solid numbers since joining the Twins, but the key turnarounds from the aforementioned relievers is the main reason the Twins' bullpen has performed as well as it has this month.
