With the NCAA transfer portal window now closed for nearly three weeks and the MLB Draft completed last week, rosters around college baseball are nearing completion.
For the 11 now-former Texas Longhorns who entered the portal last month, all 11 have now found new homes.
Here’s where they’re headed.
First baseman/outfielder Ashton Laron — Texas Tech
The Kansas product announced his commitment to Texas Tech on Sunday.
Larson was the final departure into the portal for the Longhorns after the addition of Texas Tech transfer Linkin Garcia solidified the third base position for Texas and the return of Casey Borba locked in a returnee at first base. With landing proven outfielders a point of emphasis for head coach Jim Schlossnagle and his staff, Larson was projected to lose playing had he remained on the Forty Acres for the 2027 season.
Infielder Callum Early — uncommitted
After one season at Liberty and one season at Texas, Early announced his pledge to Florida State on Monday.
Added as infield depth last year, Early was unable to break into the rotation despite injuries to Adrian Rodriguez and Ethan Mendoza and projected into a similarly limited role in 2027 had he remained on the Forty Acres.
Catcher Andrew Ermis — TCU
The San Antonio product committed to TCU in late June.
After spending two seasons at Temple Junior College, Ermis committed to Texas to back up Carson Tinney after departures into the portal by potential 2026 backups. A similar scenario played out this year when Texas added Saint Mary’s transfer Ian Armstrong and then suffered the losses of Ermis and Presley Courville with two well-regarded catchers headed to Austin in the signing class.
Catcher/outfielder Presley Courville — Coastal Carolina
The first player to transfer during the June window who appeared in a game for Texas in 2026, Courville announced his pledge to Coastal Carolina in late June.
Capable of playing behind the plate or in the outfield, Courville showed flashes of promise as a hitter, but also dealt with a shoulder injury that sidelined him for part of the season and wasn’t going to compete for the starting job n 2027 after Texas landed Armstrong.
Outfielder Maddox Monsour — NC State
The former top-250 prospect out of Georgia committed to NC State at the end of June.
Like Larson, Monsour’s potential for playing time in the outfield took a hit with transfer portal additions — as well as the anticipated return of Jonah Williams from injury — after he was unable to take advantage of his opportunity as the starting center fielder due to struggles at the plate that forced Dariyan Pendergass into the lineup.
Outfielder Will Hill — WCJC
After redshirting at Texas in 2026, Hill is headed to Wharton County Junior College.
Right-hander Jason Flores — Georgia
One of the most significant Texas portal departures, Flores will get another chance at a big-time program after committing to Georgia last week.
A former MLB prospect who was ranked in the top 100 of the 2024 recruiting class, Flores showed promise as a freshman, but regressed as a sophomore and was going to face a difficult battle to factor into Max Weiner’s pitching staff with the combination of incoming and returning talent.
Left-hander Kade Bing — Houston
Early this month, Bing announced his pledge to Houston after entering the portal on June 20.
A West product who spent his freshman season at McClennan College, Bing was a depth addition for Texas after Schlossnagle’s arrival, but played a smaller role in 2025 than in 2026 and was in a similar position to Flores without the advantage of high-quality stuff.
Right-hander Jadyn Furgason — Missouri
The Missouri product is returning home after redshirting in 2026, officially joining the home-state Tigers last week.
When Schlossnagle discussed the redshirting pitchers he was most excited about for the 2027 season, Furgason wasn’t mentioned among them.
Right-hander Cooper Rummel — Duke
One of the first players to enter the portal after the window opened, Rummel made his commitment to Duke public late in June.
A top-100 prospect by Perfect Game, Rummel was a promising developmental pitcher mentioned in the group that Schlossnagle and his staff were excited about with a power fastball and a promising curveball, making his departure one of the biggest disappointments of the portal window.
Right-hander Grady Westphal — Kansas State
The 6’2, 200-pounder from Kansas is heading home after entering the portal just before the window closed, making his commitment to the Wildcats public on Saturday.
The top-ranked player in Kansas, Westphal redshirted during his lone season on the Forty Acres. Another promising pitcher among the redshirting players, Westphal’s return home is also a disappointing development for the Horns.
