Whether it’s to avoid palm oil, shrinkflation, or dwindling cocoa content, some shoppers have decided to move away from major chocolate brands like Cadbury and Nestlé.
And if your alternative of choice is Tony’s Chocolonely, this new launch means you’ve got even more options to pick from.
Three months on from the release of its first ever filled bars, the Netherlands-based firm has added another flavour to its core 180g bar range.
Milk Popcorn Crunch is a ‘sweet and salty’ treat with roasted, caramelised popcorn pieces with 32% Fairtrade Belgian milk chocolate.
Like the rest of its products, it’ll feature the signature Tony’s unequally divided design, with plastic-free packaging that’s 100% recyclable.
The chocolate is also made from 100% traceable cocoa beans — precisely 134 in each bar — sourced through Tony’s Open Chain which helps farmers earn a stable living income.
Combining two favourite film snacks, Tony’s claims it’s designed to ‘bring you right back to your local cinema’ with a ‘nostalgic hit of moreish crunch’.
You don’t have to head to your local multiplex to try Milk Popcorn Crunch though; the flavour is available at Sainsbury’s, Asda, WHSmith, Oxfam and on the manufacturer’s website, with a £4 per bar RRP.
A spokesperson for the confectionery firm commented: ‘It’s a sweet indulgence that delivers on taste and does good with every bite — whether you’re taking it to the movies, or curling up for a cosy night in.’
What do chocolate lovers think?
Even before its release, Popcorn Crunch was already winning fans.
‘I may have just found my movie snack soulmate,’ commented mercyfulani on Instagram, while eileen.molloy.71 called it ‘the perfect combo’ and __justsoph added: ‘I need this now.’
Not long after the new product hit stores, emily.a.bennett wrote: ‘Found already, devoured immediately and on the hunt for more. Could it be the best Tony’s bar yet?!’
Another, tasneem__x, described it as ‘sweet salty spectacular’, telling the brand: ‘You’ve outdone yourself again!’
Some on TikTok were less positive, saying they’d instead been hoping for the long-awaited launch of Tony’s first white chocolate bar, including ..natz_012 who said: ‘It’s not funny anymore.’
However, morganholdsworthh argued Milk Popcorn Crunch was ‘so much better’, with art.nailartist_ joking: ‘Ignoring white chocolate? I love y’all already.’
It’s all popping off…
