Key Points

  • Marcello Hernández impersonated Kevin Hart on Today.
  • Cohosts Sheinelle Jones and Al Roker couldn’t control their laughter as they watched.
  • Hart also insisted SNL doesn’t do Hernández justice.

Leave it to Marcello Hernández to cause a laughing fit on live TV.

The SNL star had Today’s Sheinelle Jones and Al Roker rolling over with his impression of his 72 Days costar Kevin Hart, who happened to be sitting right next to him, on Monday's episode.

When asked how it was working with Hart on the new Netflix film, Hernández told Jones, “Do you want to see it? Should I show you?”

Hernández then asked Jones to play him asking Kevin Hart for advice as he broke out into an impersonation of the comedian.

“They got to bring the money up! Money’s got to be up if they want me to do that,” Hernández said, playing Hart on the phone. “Listen, I’m good, I’m good, but it’s gonna cost ya!”

Jones and Hart burst out laughing as Hernández went on with his Hart spiel.

“Listen, this is ridiculous,” Hart told Jones when she asked if it’s an accurate depiction of him.

Hernández then found Hart’s AirPods behind him on his interview seat and joked, “Just in case the CEO calls and says, ‘We want Kevin to be the face of Froot Loops.’ He’s going to be like, ‘Of course! This is the fruitiest loop in the world! I’m Kevin Hart, hello world! Ya’ll ever wake up and need a pick me up? Well, let me pick you up with the loop that smiles back.’”

Hart then called out Roker for laughing off stage as the camera panned to show him in hysterics in front of his weather screen. “I’m sorry,” Roker said, catching his breath.

Hernández then pivoted to say he loved working with Hart on 72 Hours, which follows a 40-year-old ad exec (Hart) who joins a crew of 20-somethings for a wild Miami bachelor party after they mistakenly add him to a group chat.

“He is exactly what you would think that he is,” Hart said of Hernández. “I don’t think SNL does him enough justice. I think he got to cut loose in the movie in a different way. And the world is in for a treat.”
