Joy Behar doesn’t greet all her guests like this.
On the Wednesday, July 22, episode of The View, Behar welcomed married actor Anson Mount onto the show with a long kiss on the lips.
The lip-lock, which went down just seconds after the Star Trek star walked onto the set, left both the audience and her co-panelists stunned.
Intimate kiss
The live audience applauded as Mount greeted moderator Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines with hugs and handshakes.
But when he reached Behar, she pulled him in and leaned for what looked like a peck on the cheek.
Instead, Behar planted one on his lips, wrapping her left arm around his right side to bring him in for a more intimate kiss.
‘I’m old, but I’m not dead’
Mount, who looked caught off guard, kicked up his leg before moving down to the rest of the cohosts.
By the time he sat, the audience and panelists were laughing at the mark Behar’s lipstick left on his face.
Sunny Hostin passed Mount a tissue while Behar joked, “I’m old, but I’m not dead.”
Hostin then let slip that Behar had spent “all morning” talking about Mount’s upcoming appearance before the show even started.
Married man
Goldberg tried to get the interview going before stopping to ask if Behar needed a moment to regroup. “This year marks the… Are you okay?” she started.
“I need a little bit of a touch-up,” Behar replied. “Last time he was here, he brought me flowers for my birthday, and it’s never been the same between us.”
Mount pointed out, “I got married, so…”
Behar shot back, “That’s what I mean!”
It seems Behar needed the reminder, as Mount has been married to photographer Darah Trang since 2018.
Past intimate jokes
It wasn’t the first time Behar raised a few eyebrows on air.
Weeks earlier, she made an intimate joke about show producer Brian Teta while interviewing Summer House reality star Kyle Cooke.
“During the [Summer House] reunion, viewers were shocked that you and [estranged wife] Amanda [Batula] had not been intimate for four years,” Behar said before turning the joke on Teta, adding, “Kind of like Brian.”
