Scottie Scheffler is the star attraction this week at the 3M Open, while Jake Knapp, Tom Kim, and Gary Woodland are also in town.

Scheffler added the event to his PGA Tour schedule so that he remained competitively sharp for the playoffs.

Jordan Spieth initially made the same decision as the world number one last month.

However, while Scheffler is raring to go this week in Minnesota, Spieth has already withdrawn from the 3M Open.

There have been a number of other withdrawals from the event this week ranging from Ryan Fox to Eric Cole.

And now another huge name has decided to pull out of the 3M Open at very late notice.

Jason Day withdraws from the 3M Open

Australian star Jason Day, a 13-time PGA Tour winner, will not be in Blaine, Minnesota, this week.

He was listed as part of the field when it was released on Friday.

However, the PGA Tour released the news that Day has withdrawn on Wednesday morning, citing a back injury.

Four-time PGA Tour winner Charley Hoffman has taken Day’s place in the field.

Hoffman will be hoping to take full advantage of Day’s withdrawal, as he looks to make only his second cut of the season in what will be his 15th start.

As for Day, he will be hugely disappointed that his body has once again failed him.

His back has caused him all sorts of issues over the years, and his withdrawal from the 3M Open is yet another example of just how fragile his back is.

Rory McIlroy’s candid admission that will make PGA Tour squirm: 'Why would I care?'

After the British Open, Rory McIlroy admitted something no PGA Tour executive wants to hear. The Northern Irishman, 37, agreed that the PGA Tour and the FedEx Cup don’t get his juices going as much as they once did. “I think it just sort of ebbs and flows,” McIlroy said after being asked about his interest in the two. “There’s been years where I’ve given [the PGA Tour] maybe more of my attention and years that I haven’t. Yeah, I guess I’m just...
