Matt Damon wasn’t able to tell his wife about his role in The Odyssey first. After landing the lead role in Christopher Nolan's latest movie, Damon revealed why his wife wasn’t the first person to hear the news.
Matt Damon’s wife had a surprising reaction to his The Odyssey casting
Damon recently appeared in an interview on 100 Questions With Tom Simmons. Alongside Tom Holland, Damon answered questions about their latest movie. At one point, Damon revealed that immediately after getting the role of Odysseus, he tried to share the news with his wife, Luciana Barroso. However, Barroso didn’t answer because she was in a Zoom meeting.
The 55-year-old stated, "So, I immediately called my wife who was on a Zoom, and so she couldn’t pick up, and I called Ben Affleck."
Hearing the news, Affleck was so excited that he “freaked out.” As the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star broke the news to Barroso, she texted Damon demanding a justification. Damon said, “I was on the phone with him for about 30 minutes… they were at the office in LA. I hung up with him and my wife texted me: ‘Why didn’t you tell me first?’ Cause Ben had run into her office to tell her.”
Interestingly, the couple has a very strong bond of friendship with Affleck. That's because all three of them are partners in the production company Artist's Equity. Damon has always spoken very highly of Barroso. According to an interaction with People Magazine, Damon's wife reads all of his scripts and also reacts to all the cuts. The couple has four daughters (namely, Alexia, Isabella, Gia, and Stella).
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey earned $123,502,900 in the opening weekend. Till now, the movie has garnered $306,337,032 worldwide.
