While Prince Harry wants his children to feel at home in the U.K., Meghan Markle may not be as keen to have a life in the United Kingdom.
Royal author Christopher Andersen said, “One gets the sense that, from Meghan’s perspective, the reunion with Charles and Camilla wasn’t entirely warm and fuzzy.”
The source of the information is unknown, as the event was described as a “private family-only meeting.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, alongside their two children, Archie and Lilibet, reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla for the first time in four years. The family of four has not been in the country since Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
While Prince Harry’s trip was primarily scheduled for the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, it was also intended as a family trip to his home country. However, the visit did not go as planned.
The family was denied taxpayer-funded security for their stay, and they were unable to stay at Buckingham Palace Royal Residence, as the offer expired before they accepted it. The lack of security for his family left Harry by himself for most of the trip.
Harry has attempted to gain security for his family in the U.K. several times, but has been repeatedly denied. According to Page Six, the visit “turned into a nightmare” for Markle, forcing her to leave earlier than planned with her children.
Anderson claims that “it’s fairly clear that Markle feels more secure in [her home] in Montecito, and doesn’t want to give the impression that she will be any part of a return to royal life.” Markle and Harry stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to California.
