Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla has been the talk of the town for a while now. From early hiccups of royal accommodation to the Duke’s battle for security to bring his kids to the U.K., the reunion was shrouded in obstacles and scrutiny. However, it eventually took place, allegedly providing much relief and satisfaction to both parties.
However, one person seemed not entirely happy with the reunion: Meghan Markle. According to what royal author Christopher Andersen told Page Six, the reunion may not have been everything that Meghan hoped for. He told the publication, “One gets the sense that, from Meghan’s perspective, the reunion with Charles and Camilla wasn’t entirely warm and fuzzy.”
After Andersen’s remark, a palace source was puzzled by his knowledge and asked how the author could have been aware of details about a “private family-only meeting.”
This comes after Camilla dropped everything to be at the reunion, reports Cosmopolitan. A source alleged that Camilla drove to her house, Highgrove House, the monarch’s private country residence in Gloucestershire, England, in “quite a hurry” to be a part of the meeting. The source shared, “The king wanted to see Harry and the children. A time was agreed for the Sussexes to come to Highgrove on Friday afternoon, and it was uncharacteristically last-minute for the king. Everyone was sworn to secrecy so that the meeting could remain private.”
They added, “Charles wanted Camilla to be there for moral support and because she has been a pillar of strength for him throughout all the drama with Harry, and she dropped everything. She told no one—not even her family. She just got in the car and headed over. They were all on a mission to keep the meeting as watertight as possible.” Royal author Catherine Mayer also claimed, “She is a non-negotiable part of Charles’ life. There is no reconciliation with him without her.”
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the reunion took place at the king’s home, but photos are not expected to be released. Reportedly, the reunion was so secretive that all the parties agreed to keep it under wraps so no details could slip out. The source added, “The agreement was made before they met the king that nothing would be shared—no photos, no details. It was a top-secret arrangement, and they pulled it off, and frankly they are delighted about that.”
The last time King Charles met Harry’s kids was in 2022 when the family attended Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Harry has previously said multiple times that he wants his kids to know and connect with their royal lineage. However, he’s also worried about his family’s security. Even at this time’s reunion, Meghan arrived with the kids a few days after HarryHarry’s. The entire security situation while she was in the U.K. became “turned into a nightmare” for her. Consequently, she was forced to leave earlier than planned as she feels “more secure in [her home] in Montecito.”
