A school district in Texas has deleted a social media post showing staff standing in front of a progress pride flag displayed in a classroom.

A school district in Texas has deleted a social media post showing staff standing in front of a progress pride flag displayed in a classroom.

El Paso ISD (EPISD) posted the image on July 10 showing Deputy Superintendent David Bates and Chief Communications Officer Liza Rodriguez standing in front of a classroom with a version of the progress pride flag displayed on the wall behind them.

The caption of the post read: “As we prepare to welcome students back for the new school year, El Paso ISD campus and district leaders are getting ready behind the scenes. This week, they explored the services, resources and support systems provided by our Operations Services Department that help ensure every campus is ready for a successful start to the school year."

Bates’ official title on the EPISD website is listed as deputy superintendent operations and support systems.

A post was also shared on the EPISD website with the same caption but a different image.

It’s not clear when the images were deleted, but conservative influencers like Libs of TikTok posted the image on July 17, claiming the progress pride flag display is a violation of state law. However, the bill cited by Libs of TikTok died in committee and never became law.

EPISD did not acknowledge the image or its deletion on its social media pages.

The Christian Post reached out to the district for comment Tuesday. This story will be updated if a response is received.

In June 2025, EPISD marked so-called pride month with a June 2 Facebook post that read: “Happy Pride Month!
