With as much continues to change about the gaming industry, Steam remains a bastion for gamers looking to find great free games. There are a number of them currently available, but three of them will only stay free until July 2026.
Mindseye, Empyrion - Galactic Survival, and Super Battle Golf are all positively reviewed, 9/10 games that gamers need to try while they're free. They may all come from different genres, but they all still guarantee a great time nonetheless.
Steam Exclusively Offers Free Shooter, Open-World, and Sports Games Until July 20
The first temporarily free game on Steam is MindEye. Developed and published in 2025 by Build a Rocket Boy, MindsEye is a unique third-person shooter that, while previously having received "Mixed" reviews, has more recently achieved "Mostly Positive" status.

MindsEye typically costs $35 for the base game, and $48 for the Deluxe Edition, making its current free-to-play status a steal.
A massive open-world game released back in 2020, Empyron - Galactic Survival was developed and published by Eleon Game Studios, and received "Mostly Positive" reviews based on nearly 18,000 of them. Not only is this sci-fi simulator free until July 20, but it can be purchased forever for only $7.99 if bought before July 23.

The final game in this trio is Super Battle Golf. Developed by Brimstone and published by Oro Interactive, Super Battle Golf was released earlier this year, and has maintained a "Very Positive" rating after receiving over 6,500 reviews.
"An online 1-8 player golf game where everyone plays at the same time," the description reads. "Swing, shoot, sabotage, and finish first by any means necessary in a free-for-all rush to the hole."

Super Battle Golf is only free to play until July 20, but it can be purchased on sale for $5.59 until July 23.
