If there’s any game that needs and deserves a do-over most, perhaps aside from the Resident Evil 3 remake, it’s the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. For many, this remake may seem like a fleeting memory, now that it’s been almost five years since it was originally announced during the September 2026 PlayStation Showcase. Basically, all we’ve heard about it in half a decade is bad news.
But the Star Wars: KOTOR remake is still in development, miraculously, and we have reason to believe that there’s been some encouraging momentum building in a galaxy far, far away. If so, it’s possible that we could see the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake again quite soon, perhaps with a much different look, and an official release not long after.
According to a leaker that goes by the X username 100% Star Wars, who has proven themselves to be quite reliable, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is planning to re-reveal itself this year, with the possibility of that reveal being delayed (though it has not yet been, apparently). This is obviously fantastic news for KOTOR fans, if true, as it means the remake is not only alive and breathing, but also potentially thriving and prepared to step back into the glow of a lightsaber blade.
Surely the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake wouldn’t rush back into the public eye if it wasn’t ready to share more, or if there were still a handful of years of development to churn through in order to have a product that the studio is content with. All this goes to show that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’s remake may be back in a big way, and it’ll all come down to how it’s presented, if it does actually receive a long-awaited re-reveal.
The likeliest place for the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake to present a grand re-reveal, then, would seemingly be Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards 2026 in December, which would align with this leaker’s claim that the re-reveal will take place this year. Likewise, a delay pushing it to 2027 would make sense, because delaying the reveal from December onward would naturally push it to 2027.
Moreover, Saber must know now that another title card reveal and an obscured glimpse of Star Wars: KOTOR’s Darth Revan won’t satisfy anyone this time. With any luck, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’s remake will have made a full recovery from all the hardships it’s suffered, and with its re-reveal will hopefully come a rebirth for the highly anticipated game.
