I know some of the pickier Star Trek fans have already fallen out of love with Strange New Worlds, but I cannot wait for Season 4 to drop. Thankfully, the show's return is imminent and will keep me entertained for weeks to come. As the Original Series prequel starts to run out of open space ahead of next year's final season, Strange New Worlds Season 4 has some very promising-sounding adventures looming on the horizon.
In what looks to be a good blend of quirky gimmicks and prestige sci-fi drama, one of the two Star Trek series left standing is gearing up to prove that the franchise still has a lot to offer. Personally, I'm especially looking forward to the finale, "Tomorrow's Enterprise," which sounds like a thrilling crossover-esque follow-up to a certain episode of The Next Generation. That's just a theory, of course. Still, I'm confident Season 4 won't disappoint.
'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Season 4 Ditches the Multi-Episode Premiere Trend
Dropping more than one episode at once to celebrate a new season of a TV show can be a very valid approach, given the right scenario. I'm not the type to binge-watch something I've been waiting for, though. I'd much rather make it last. Strange New Worlds has only diverged from the multi-episode premiere blueprint once before, with Season 2. Well, now I guess it's twice, as Season 4 is also just dropping a single installment on the show's return date of Jul. 23.
Season 1 dropped the first three episodes at once back in 2022, and Season 3 enjoyed a double-episode premiere in 2025. I'm not just happy that Season 4 is being made to last longer via a traditional, single-episode premiere. The fact that only one installment is being made available from the start makes me think it's a strong, standalone effort. Season 4, Episode 1, "Valles Marineris," is expected to showcase the dinosaurs seen in some of the recent promotional material. Expect a feast for the eyes that presumably doesn't need to rely on a more immediate continuation.
'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Season 4's Complete Paramount+ Release Schedule
While the possibility remains that Paramount+ will be shuttered in the near future for merger-related reasons, the platform remains the home of Star Trek for now. As such, all episodes of Strange New Worlds Season 4 will premiere weekly on Paramount+. Episode 1 will land on Thursday, Jul. 23, and there'll be a new installment each Thursday until the finale on Sept. 24. As per typical Paramount+ release times, the episodes are expected to drop at 3 am ET each Thursday. For those operating on PT, it'll be three hours earlier, at 12 am.
Although Season 4 will retain the streaming-era standard length of 10 episodes, I wouldn't get too used to it. Sadly, it's already been confirmed that this will be the last time Strange New Worlds enjoys a run this long.Season 5 will wrap up the series in 2027 with just six episodes. I know, I'm sad about it, too. I'm more concerned with quality over quantity, though, and we still have Season 4 to sink our teeth into before we have to worry about whether Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' final season will ultimately stick the landing in 2027.
