Loved ones are devastated after a 63-year-old man was found dead at a park in San Bernardino County and his belongings were found in a trash can nearby.

On July 19, a passerby called police to report a body found at Rialto City Park in Rialto around 5:22 a.m.

The victim, Jose De Jesus Arriaga Loza, 63, was found naked and lying on the grass. His clothing, wallet, cash and driver’s license were found inside a nearby trash can.

Investigators said there were injuries to his face that were “consistent with either a fall or a physical altercation.”

The man’s son, Juan Jose Arriaga Trejo, said that his father had “a broken nose and some lacerations to the face.”

He told KTLA’s Sara Welch that he couldn’t believe his father’s life would end this way.

“He deserved better,” Trejo said. “My father was a great man and for him to have suffered this painful death, I feel like nobody deserves this.”

It remains unclear how Loza ended up at the park that day, which is located just a few miles from his home in North Rialto.

Trejo said his father worked as a cook and he was unaware of anyone who would want to hurt him or had issues with him.

“I have talked to so many coworkers and friends and they all tell me the same thing — he was just admired everywhere he went,” Trejo said.

Although the circumstances surrounding Loza’s death are unclear, investigators said, “Robbery does not appear to have been a factor.” The case is being investigated as a suspicious death.

His family hopes footage from nearby surveillance cameras will shed light on the events leading up to the 63-year-old’s death.

“I’m really hoping, with the help of the community, that somebody steps up and hopefully the detectives will find something and give us answers and the closure we deserve,” Trejo said.

A GoFundMe page to help Loza’s family with funeral expenses can be found here.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Rialto Police Department at 909-820-2550.

Jack Smith hit with criminal referral for allegedly making false statements to Congress about Trump probe: 'Strong evidence'

Former special counsel Jack Smith was hit with a criminal referral Wednesday for allegedly misleading House lawmakers about the Biden-era investigation into President Trump. In his complaint to the Justice Department, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) contended that newly released records appear to contradict Smith’s testimony to the panel that he did not obtain or review text messages from lawmakers as his team looked into...
