Indiana begins play on Tuesday night in the FISU America Games and have added former Hoosier center Sam Alexis to the roster.
Alexis, who played his final year in college with Indiana last season, will not play on Tuesday but will be available for the remainder of the event, sources tell TheHoosier.com.
Indiana plays Peru on Tuesday night and will then face off against Virgin Islands on Thursday before bracket play begins on Saturday.
Alexis played for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Summer League this month averaging 3.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
At 6-foot-9 and 240-pounds, Alexis averaged 8.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game last year for the Hoosiers. He started 23 games for Indiana.
Indiana will be without 7-foot-2, 275-pound center Samet Yigitoglu for the FISU America Games due to playing under Team USA, and Yigitoglu being a citizen of Turkey. Indiana is also without freshman forward Clemens Sokolov for the event.
