Whenever a big company like ESPN goes through front-facing layoffs, fans take to social media with their opinions.
Why is this person being laid off when I like this person more? is what most of the arguments boil down to, especially on social media on Tuesday.
We're seeing a lot of that across X, formerly known as Twitter, in the wake of ESPN's layoffs on Tuesday. Some prominent names like Karl Ravech, Ryan Clark, Cam Newton, Bart Scott, Tom Pelissero and David Lloyd, among others, are being let go by the company. Meanwhile, ESPN continues to pay millions to the likes of Pat McAfee, Stephen A. Smith, Mike Greenberg, etc.
Mina Kimes, one of ESPN's top NFL analysts, continues to be in good standing at the Worldwide Leader in Sports.
Kimes, a former business reporter turned ESPN writer turned TV star, is extremely well-liked by most, not only for her football knowledge but her love of reality TV (she's a big "Love is Blind fan") and more.
But, since it's social media, Kimes is facing some backlash from some amid ESPN's layoffs on Tuesday.
"Boo!!!! Karl Ravech is awesome! How does Mina Kimes have a job before Ravech? Mina Kimes is the worst of the worst of the worst!" Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who has a personal vendetta against Kimes, wrote on X.
NFL fans, though, are coming to an agreement on Kimes: she's one of the best at ESPN.
Fans come to Kimes' defense on social media on Tuesday
Fans are showing major support for Kimes on social media on Tuesday, as she remains with ESPN during the company layoffs.
"Mina is awesome. One of the best at the network. Love her football analysis," one fan wrote.
"Mina Kimes is incredibly talented & has been for a long time. You literally run a circus bro," one fan added.
"Mina knows more about sports than you do, and it’s not even close. The rest of us actually understand sports. You’re just a gambling guy who mistakes betting knowledge for sports knowledge," one fan added.
"Mina Kimes is one of the best," one fan added.
Kimes, meanwhile, has been showing support for those laid off at ESPN on Tuesday afternoon.
Kimes is expected to play a big role with ESPN's NFL coverage during the 2026 season, perhaps even bigger now following the company-wide layoffs that took place on Monday and Tuesday.
