Shedeur Sanders has spent much of his offseason under the spotlight as he continues to mark himself with the Cleveland Browns. After entering the NFL with high expectations, he has welcomed the challenge of fitting into the NFL locker room.
Recently, Sanders shared that respect inside an NFL locker room is not handed easily. The players have to earn the trust of veterans through their work ethic and attitude. His comments showed a team-first mentality as he is adapting to the NFL environment.
“So, it’s like you don’t want to first come in the league and, like, um, you got to earn the respect of your teammates or everything,” said Sanders via 92.3 The Fan. “You just can’t come in dictating, and you know, like that’s just that’s not a form of respect in the locker room and all that, and we understand that.”

“So, it just took time and a lot of relationships and, uh, you know, to keep players able to get on the same page and be able to do it, and it’ll be fun, and it doesn’t feel forced,” added Sanders via 92.3 The Fan.
Sanders’ approach talked about the culture that veteran players often expect from the incoming rookies, where actions are more important than words.
The Browns’ quarterback room has experienced veterans alongside younger talent, which creates a learning environment from proven stars. Sanders has spoken about absorbing advice and focusing on improvement rather than immediately bossing around the room.
Sanders threw for over 4,100 yards and 37 touchdowns during his collegiate career while completing more than 74% of his passes. Those achievements helped establish him as one of college football’s most recognizable QBs before he began his NFL journey.

“It’s the same thing that we’ve been saying from Day 1. We’re both trying to be the best version of ourselves we could be. So we’re not going to let anything get in between of that,” Sanders said in the same interview.
Instead of letting competition create any kind of tension, Sanders explained that everyone in the QB room is focused on improving individually while helping the team to succeed.
The Miami workouts brought players together, which gave the group a chance to develop a bond away from the facility. Sanders described how offseason sessions can make communication and trust stronger.
Sanders believed that mutual respect and shared goals defined the team and not QB rivalry, benefiting the Browns’ offense.
