Pop superstar Shakira headlined the FIFA Men's World Cup's first-ever halftime show during the 2026 final matchup between Spain and defending champions Argentina.
Shakira's two kids, Sasha and Milan, were in the stands cheering their mother on as her World Cup anthem Dai Dai featuring Burna Boy blasted throughout New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on Sunday, July 19. Their father, former Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué, was in the stands, too, and, according to body language expert Judi James, made a defiant non-verbal statement as he could not escape his ex during the live event.
This comes after Shakira and Spanish footballer Ferran Torres sparked dating rumors after the World Cup final, with her ex looking on.

In one clip from the stands, Gerard could be seen sitting with his 11- and 13-year-old sons as Shakira's "Dai Dai" blasts throughout the stadium.
The two boys dance and smile in the stands, singing along to the song as their father sits next to them, avoiding the cameras. According to the expert, the 39-year-old's body language reveals more than the eye can see, as Gerard's apparent lack of reaction to his ex's music may be "more of an active act and non-verbal statement" about how he really feels.
James notes, "As her boys dance with excitement and pride... Piqué opts for a much less enthusiastic-looking response in this clip."
She observes how he "sits slightly slumped in his chair in a pose that suggests it might require some kind of confetti canon to blast him up onto his feet, and he turns his head to the side, apparently unsmiling, as though untouched by the party atmosphere."
The body language interpreter also pointed out that, as a former Spanish soccer star himself, "the final must have been something of a reminder of what might have been or what used to be when he was at his career peak," which may explain why he appears uncomfortable on camera.
Judi examined his demeanor in the clip and noted that it "suggests he's not actually doing nothing here," concluding that being completely unresponsive as people around him dance and cheer with joy may be a conscious decision to communicate his dissatisfaction or discomfort with being there.
Her analysis continued, "Perhaps he got up before or after this clip, or maybe he was primarily there to keep a protective eye on his boys, but this moment manages to make it look as though, although he's turned up to sit watching his ex, the idea of just relaxing and letting rip with a few joyous moves is still beyond him."
The 49-year-old pop star and the former footballer were in a relationship for 11 years before calling it quits in 2022. Their bitter breakup spilled into the public eye after Shakira accused Piqué of cheating on her, which inspired her to release the cutting breakup anthem, BZRP Music Sessions #53, which references the messy details of their bitter split.
