The ‘Friends’ alum has a close relationship with her only child, whom she shares with ex-husband David Arquette
Courteney Cox has a strong bond with her lookalike daughter Coco Arquette.
The Friends actress shares her only child, who was born in Los Angeles on June 13, 2004, with ex-husband and fellow actor, David Arquette.
The mother-daughter duo have been close since day one, right down to Coco’s name, which is the first two letters of Cox’s first and last names.
“It’s sort of an abbreviation of ‘COurteney COx’ … ‘CoCo,’ ” David told George Lopez on Lopez Tonight in 2010.
While Cox is very proud of her “courageous, smart, deep, funny, unique and beautiful” daughter, she told PEOPLE in January 2022 that when Coco was in her teenage years, there were definitely some growing pains.
“We fight,” the Scream franchise star said. “I’ve learned that boundaries are important and to keep them because I know it makes her feel safe, but I’m not always good with boundaries. I get worn out. You’ve got to pick your battles and decide what is important.”
Look back at some of the sweetest moments Courteney Cox and her daughter, Coco, have shared over the years.

Musical Moments
While there’s no denying that both Cox and Coco were bitten by the acting bug, it’s clear that music runs in the family as well.
In August 2021, Cox posted a sweet video of her daughter singing a cover of Adele’s “Chasing Pavements” as she accompanied her on piano. She captioned the video: “I love my Coconut’s voice.”

Glam Fam
Cox has spent plenty of time in the glam chair thanks to being on sets and getting ready for red carpets. However, there was nothing quite like the time Coco got her MUA on.
The Scream 7 actress posted a time-lapse Instagram video of her daughter doing her makeup in May 2020, joking in the caption, “I guess you get what you pay for!”
Cox opened up on The Drew Barrymore Show about her daughter’s longtime passion for fashion and makeup, saying, “People will say, ‘Why do you let Coco wear so much makeup?’ She’s been wearing makeup forever; that is a self-expression for her. She loves to dress up. She will dye her hair ... We’ve ruined the bathroom 1,000 times.”

TikTok Time
Cox is the definition of a “cool mom,” but Coco may have thought otherwise after the two busted a few moves for a brief TikTok dance in January 2020.
“Wanna see your child lose their patience? Do a TikTok with them,” the Homecourt founder wrote when she posted the video on Instagram, adding the hashtag “#familyaerobics.”

Like Mother, Like Daughter
They say fashion is cyclical, and Coco proved that in June 2019 when she rocked the same sleeveless navy blue floral dress that Cox first wore to the premiere of Snake Eyes in L.A. in July 1998.
“I’m not one to hold onto things but this was a damn good purchase! 21 years later…” Cox captioned her side-by-side post on Instagram of the two in the same frock decades apart.

It doesn’t get any cuter than this! In honor of Coco’s 17th birthday in June 2021, Cox posted a tribute carousel of throwback photos.

Three Generations
Cox paid tribute to her mother, Courteney Copeland (née Bass), and her daughter with a throwback photo shared in honor of Mother’s Day 2020.
“Here we are, my mom, Coco and me wrapped together in our generational trifecta,” the actress started her Instagram caption. “I am so grateful to be my daughter’s mother, and my mother’s daughter. This is just one of the many beautiful memories I will always treasure.”
Cox lost her mom in December 2020.
She opened up to PEOPLE in January 2022 about the tight bond they shared, which is similar to the one she has with Coco.
“I was really close to my mom. She was my best friend,” the Emmy-nominated actress said. “And I have that with Coco. She tells me everything.”

First Formals
Though they look quite different in this side-by-side that Cox shared in February 2020, both ladies were attending the same respective events: their first high school formals!
Coco’s hand is seemingly bent to mimic her mother’s pose, carrying a bouquet.
“I’m not saying times have changed but, someone is a little more ‘formal’ than someone else. Obviously it was a little chillier in Alabama. #simplicitypatterns,” Cox captioned her post on Instagram, noting her hometown roots. She graduated from high school in Mountain Brook, Ala., in 1982.

Bahamas Babes
Cox compiled a few memorable highlights from “Spring break with my little coconut 🌴,” when the mother-daughter duo visited the Bahamas in April 2019.
Not only is the Shining Vale star’s video adorable, but it’s also hilarious. Set to Bob Marley’s “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” the Instagram video begins with text that reads, “Everything slows down in the Bahamas,” before showing Cox and Coco playing paddleball in slow motion.

The two share an incredibly close bond, as the Shining Vale star told PEOPLE in her January 2022 cover story.
“I think she’s funny, and I love hanging out with her,” the actress said. “I love when she needs me. She’s fun. And you could never be mad at her, ever, for too long. Arquette’s a really good apologizer. I should save her texts. That girl could talk her way out of anything.”
