Sean Lowe and his wife Catherine Giudici are supporting their son through a tough diagnosis.
The Bachelor Nation alums shared that their family had endured a “rough” week after their middle child Isaiah, 8, was hospitalized and diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
“This tough boy has endured countless injections, four days away from his home and a lifestyle and routine that feels very very foreign,” Giudici wrote on Instagram July 22 alongside pictures and videos of Isaiah in the hospital. “He’s done all this without losing his playful spirit and a joy that doesn’t make sense.”
The 40-year-old—also mom to kids Samuel, 10, and Mia, 6, with Lowe—added, “A lot of tears, pain and confusion too, but he has been a trooper, no question about it.”
Although she described Isaiah as “otherwise healthy and active,” Giudici noted that she and Lowe—who tied the knot the year after meeting on The Bachelor in 2013—took Isaiah to hospital after their son’s primary care doctor ran tests and received “alarming results.”

“Our wonderful pediatrician noticed some symptoms at our annual appointment that stuck out to her,” Giudici explained. “He had lost 11 pounds since his last visit (we thought he just had a growth spurt) and had been drinking and peeing A LOT (it’s really hot here in the summer).”
After maneuvering through uncharted territory, the reality TV alum emphasized that she and Lowe are “thankful for the nurses, doctors and staff who gave us a 4 year college education on his condition in 4 days.”
And now, Giudici has a renewed appreciation for her son’s strength.
“Isaiah is my new hero and I am so proud to be his mama,” she shared. “Prayers for him, his siblings and his parents are welcomed as we navigate this new normal.”
