JD Vance and Usha Vance welcomed their fourth child

Vice-President J.D. Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, welcomed a baby boy on Sunday. This is their fourth child and the first born to a sitting vice-president since 1870. In an Instagram post, the vice-president and his wife announced that they had named the baby Alec Neel Vance and that both he and Usha are “happy and healthy.” Alec joins siblings Ewan, 9; Vivek, 6; and Mirabel, 4.

“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother,” the couple’s Instagram statement read. “The incredible military doctors and staff members at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing. We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”

President Donald Trump congratulated the Vances on Truth Social, sharing a photo of the baby with two of his siblings. “A perfect baby boy for the wonderful Vance family,” the president wrote.

This is the third Trump administration baby of the year. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt had her second child in May, and Katie Miller, wife of deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, had her fourth in June. Both women got back to work shortly after giving birth, with Leavitt recently returning to defend the president’s Reflecting Pool debacle and Miller hosting her podcast just one month postpartum. Hopefully this means America’s children won’t be going too long without their favorite show: Usha Vance’s supremely awkward reading podcast.
