Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 Episode 3 Review
What is the current situation in the war?
The situation of the Empire is much better after they negotiated with the local rebels. Now, the Federation and the Allied Kingdom have expanded their cooperation and even begun a joint operation. In such a scenario, the Empire sent the Salamander troops to look after the situation. Thankfully, Anya and her people managed to drive their forces away. However, now, the Ildoa Kingdom emerged as an unexpected player.
What was the objective of the Ildoa Kingdom?
The Empire got fuel from the Ildoa Kingdom. Thus, the higher-ups in the Ildoa Kingdom discussed how they could utilise this situation to put the Empire in their debt. That way, they would not make any common enemy.
What was the offer that the Ildoa Kingdom gave to the Empire?
The Ildoa Kingdom suddenly started to move their troops, and this alerted the Empire, which then sent a representative to their nation. Erich went there and was offered a solution where the Ildoa Kingdom would act as a neutral party to help the Empire make a truce. However, in reality, they mostly just wanted to leverage the situation and seek their benefit. This was also why they sent an observer to the Empire’s frontlines. Anya’s task was to show the guest how they conduct the war and hope for the best.
What did the observer witness?
In her conduct, Tanya was exceptional and showcased herself to be an innocent girl in the beginning. The observer from the Ildoa Kingdom was also impressed with Tanya. However, later she revealed how ruthless she can be when war called for it. She immediately launched attacks at a town even though it was against international law. When asked how she saw the war ending, she wanted to give a normal answer, so she just said that anything her seniors tell her, she just does it. As a soldier, she was meant to follow whatever her orders stated.
Does the war finally end?
Tanya thought she did enough and hoped she could finally take a rest. However, she couldn’t have been more wrong. A senior Empire officer comes to her, and she realises just how much the soldiers actually suffer from the Concorde effect. Even though they know that the war will lead nowhere, they still cling to it because they could not accept defeat in such a humiliating way.
What was the Empire’s response?
Erich goes to the Ildoa Kingdom to state exactly what his commanding officers told him. And it was just a simple message of “Eat S**t.” This signified that the Empire was not all interested in peace and would continue with war, launching another operation against their enemies. Surprisingly, Hans was the only senior officer who was actually in favour of this peace proposal.
What worked and what did not work?
The political conflict became even more intense in this episode, making the looming war incredibly exciting to watch. It also showed just how fascinating history can be, especially since many of these events were inspired by real-life war situations.
