The Los Angeles Rams have become a talking point after pulling off the blockbuster trade for pass rusher Myles Garrett. While Garrett’s arrival has created lots of excitement, questions remain about whether the Rams can make the most of their loaded roster.
Former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick discussed the Rams’ chances of winning a championship on the Rich Eisen Show. He praised the team’s roster and emphasized that the franchise’s Super Bowl hopes rest on one player: Matthew Stafford.
“Can Matthew, now a year older, continue to play at the level that he’s played? I think so,” said Ryan Fitzpatrick on the Rich Eisen Show. “But can he stay healthy? I mean, that’s going to be a big question mark, and their season is going to be riding on that. If he gets hurt, they obviously have no shot.”
Fitzpatrick’s comments on the Rich Eisen Show reflect the reality the Rams are facing. Stafford has always proven he can perform at an elite level when healthy.
Stafford helped the Rams win the Super Bowl in the 2021 season and is one of the NFL’s elite passers. Last year, he led the league in passing yards (4,707) and touchdowns (46) in 17 games.
However, the question is: can Stafford do the same at the age of 38, when health has become a growing concern?
Since joining the Rams in 2021, Stafford has missed significant time in only a single season. In the 2022 season, the QB missed eight games due to a spinal cord bruise.
That year, LA won just five games, lost 12, and finished third in the NFC West.
Ultimately, Fitzpatrick stressed that the Rams’ championship window shrinks drastically if the team remains so single-mindedly dependent on its starting quarterback.
He believes another area also needs much attention if the Rams want to make a deep postseason run.

Fitzpatrick discussed special teams as a major concern, pointing to last season’s inconsistencies as an issue Los Angeles must correct before entering this season.
“Special teams, we saw last year that was a downfall for them. So, how do they improve their special teams? It’s a team game, and it’s a very tough thing to do wire to wire,” Fitzpatrick said on the same show.
Fitzpatrick’s comments align well with one of the Rams’ biggest offseason priorities. The franchise hired coordinator Bubba Ventrone, added assistant Kyle Hoke, and brought veterans such as Joe Cardona and special teams standout Grant Stuard.
