Ryan Adams has cancelled his planned European tour due to illness, with promoters confirming the dates will no longer go ahead as the singer focuses on his health and finishing new music.
Cancelling the Tour
A statement shared by the tour promoter told fans that the cancellation was due to circumstances beyond their control and assured supporters that the 51-year-old musician was “doing OK.”
It read, “Due to circumstances beyond our control, the upcoming Ryan Adams European Tour has been cancelled. We apologize to all those who bought tickets and were excited for these shows. Refunds will be processed automatically… Ryan is doing ok and working hard to finish the new album trilogy. New music on the way.”
Adams reposted the announcement and shared his own brief update with fans, writing, “Tough times. Been sick. Fall tour cancelled.”
Financial Struggles
The cancellation comes shortly after the singer opened up about financial struggles, revealing he had been selling off a large amount of his music equipment in order to stay afloat and continue funding his work.
In an emotional message to fans, Adams said he was “broke and sick and tired and defeated,” explaining that parting with items he had collected throughout his career had become necessary.
He wrote, “I appreciate anybody who can give these treasured things a new life.”
Adams said he was proud of being honest about his situation and remained determined to keep creating music despite the challenges he was facing.
He said, “I’m proud that I did this. That I remain transparent. This business is vile and full of snakes. But I’m proud to call it and man up to this. I’ll keep making records as long as I can afford to.”
The musician ended his message on a vulnerable note, admitting he was unsure how much longer he could continue facing such difficulties.
He said, “I’m not sure how many more times I can hit this wall. When is it enough?”
