Cruisers hoping to soar across one of the world's longest over-water ziplines or lounge on the white-sand beaches of Labadee will have to wait significantly longer than expected.
Royal Caribbean Group has officially extended its suspension of ship calls to Labadee, its private resort destination on the northern coast of Haiti, through June 2027. The prolonged pause comes as the region continues to face widespread gang violence and ongoing political instability, which triggered a Level 4 "Do Not Travel" advisory—the highest risk warning issued by the U.S. Department of State.
While the private, walled-off peninsula is located roughly six miles northwest of Cap-Haïtien and operates independently from the surrounding area, the cruise line confirmed that the decision was made to prioritize passenger and crew safety while conditions in the country remain uncertain.
"As we continue to evaluate conditions in Haiti and our ability to deliver the best vacations responsibly, we have decided to extend the suspension of ship calls to Labadee through June 2027," a Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
"This decision was made with the safety and well-being of our guests and crew members in mind. We have communicated these changes directly with guests."

For travelers currently booked on Caribbean sailings through mid-2027 that originally featured Labadee as a port of call, Royal Caribbean is actively adjusting schedules and reaching out directly to affected guests.
According to passenger updates shared across cruise forums, the cruise line is replacing the Haitian stop with alternative popular Caribbean destinations, including Grand Turk, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Nassau.
While travelers are expressing disappointment over missing out on iconic Labadee attractions like the Dragon's Breath Flight Line zipline, many acknowledge the safety necessity. Behind the scenes, Royal Caribbean confirmed it is reassigning local resort staff to other fleet and destination positions during the operational pause, while continuing to provide humanitarian support and monthly food donations to the surrounding local community.
