A cruise ship crewmember was found dead in her cabin by her partner, according to authorities who are treating the tragedy as a suspected suicide.
The woman, only identified as “KD,” was found in her room when the Celebrity Constellation cruise ship docked in the Italian port city of La Spezia at 7 a.m. Sunday, the Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX reported.
The 33-year-old Mauritian native was found dead by her partner, who is also a co-worker on the ship. He then reported the harrowing discovery to the ship’s officers.

Forensic officers were then called to the ship and took photographs of her room before a coroner confirmed her death.
The woman’s partner, who was described as a “person informed of the facts” by the authorities, was interviewed – and cops reviewed security footage from her cabin before her death.
The scene inside the woman’s cabin suggests she died by suicide, according to Il Secolo XIX.
Officers will continue to investigate her death as she reportedly wasn’t suffering from depression.
No arrests have been made amid the ongoing investigation.
The Celebrity Constellation cruise ship — part of the Celebrity Cruises line — can carry 2,170 passengers and 1,000 crew members.
The ship left La Spezia at 4:30 p.m Sunday, and is currently three days into an 11 night eastern Mediterranean cruise.
