This '90s icon has been living a much quieter life than many fans realize.

California isn't for everyone, whether it be relentless traffic, high prices, or even A-listers simply feeling like they don't belong sipping fine wine with their pinky in the air.

Oscar-winning actressJulia Roberts broke out in the '90s playing a "lady of the night" in Pretty Woman alongside Richard Gere, who also doesn't seem to age a bit.

Roberts' career has taken her from serving slices in Mystic Pizza to voicing SmurfWillow in Smurfs: The Lost Village, but when she's done filming nowadays she doesn't rest her head in a Beverly Hills mansion — she left that scene a long time ago.

Julia Roberts Left Hollywood for a Ranch in New Mexico

According to Business Insider, Roberts has been a resident of Taos, New Mexico since 1995.

When discussing why she chose to move out in the sticks away from any inkling of Hollywood, she toldOprah Winfrey decades ago "Los Angeles is such a town of show business, and I'm a terrible celebrity".

Instead of residing in the winding hills of Los Angeles or beachfront digs in Malibu, she's happily opted for a 32-acre ranch in one of New Mexico's aesthetically stunning towns, laden with storied adobe homes and breathtaking mountain panoramas.

Back in the mid-'90s, she was married to country musician Lyle Lovett, before the marriage ultimately ended.

While she may be best known for her '90s classics and Oscar-winning role in Erin Brockovich, she's insisted her best role yet is simply being a mom, once tellingCBS News, "The life that I have built with my husband, the life that we've built with our children... that's the best stuff. The point is to come home at the end of the day triumphantly to them."
