Lenny Alvarez, a reputed Yonkers gang leader pleaded not guilty to ordering a 2023 barbershop shooting.

A reputed Yonkers gang leader has been indicted in a shooting that targeted rival gang members at a barbershop nearly three years ago.

Lenny Alvarez, 21, pleaded not guilty Wednesday July 22, in Westchester County Court, to charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree conspiracy. He remains held without bail and is due back in court Aug. 26.

Alvarez is accused of ordering Tyler Gutierrez, a fellow member of the Mak Ballas, to shoot at members of the rival Blood Hounds gang on the night of Oct. 7, 2023, according to a felony complaint filed in Yonkers City Court following Alvarez's arrest in January 2024. Gutierrez, then 18, was across the street when he allegedly fired five shots at Impression Barbershop at 453 McLean Ave., where eight people were at the time. Nobody was hit.

Gutierrez was arrested the following month on attempted murder charges and his case is still pending in Yonkers City Court.

A lawyer for Alvarez could not immediately be reached.
