Police say they have identified the prime suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a popular DJ in the Bronx last week.

According to police sources, the person of interest has been identified as 24-year-old Bronx resident Luis Aguero. Cops say he is wanted in the slaying of 29-year-old Yeimy Reyes, a DJ also from the Bronx.

The incident unfolded at around 4:26 a.m. on July 16 at the M Lounge located at 2362 Jerome Ave. in Fordham Heights. Officers from the 46th Precinct responded after a 911 call reported an assault in progress.

Investigators believe the incident stemmed from some kind of altercation between the two men inside the night spot’s basement, during which the victim reportedly pulled a handgun from his waistband. Aguero allegedly then shot Reyes in the head and stole both his gun and his watch.

Meanwhile, police say that Aguero has two prior charges, one for operating a vehicle without a license and the other for resisting arrest.

Authorities are asking anyone who may know his whereabouts to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
