NBA commissioner Adam Silver apparently struck a nerve when he commented on LeBron James' future last week.

While at the CNBC/Boardroom Summit last Thursday, Silver admit the league's schedule for the 2026-27 season is on hold because of James. Despite rumblings about him potentially joining the Cleveland Cavaliers or Miami Heat, no deal has been agreed to at this time. With that being said, Silver wants the four-time MVP to make a decision as soon as possible.

“We have to finish up the schedule, right? And where LeBron plays will affect the schedule,” Silver said, via The Hollywood Reporter. “So I would like him to make his announcement already, so he can finish the schedule. Because as you might imagine, the teams are calling us, the networks are calling us, and everybody wants to lock in the schedule. But it will influence how we set the schedule, how we set opening week, Christmas Day, etc.”

According to 92.3 The Fan Cleveland's Andy Baskin, those remarks from Silver "irritated" James enough that an announcement from his camp was pushed back.

"Here's what I was told yesterday by a reliable source. Last week, LeBron's crew was probably ready to make an announcement. 'Irritated' was the word I was told, by the commissioner pushing them...so they decided to hold back," Baskin said.

What's the latest on the LeBron sweepstakes?

During an appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic this Wednesday, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that Miami is in the driver's seat for James.

“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. There are people who are kind and think of me and send along information,” Schefter said on 97.5 The Fanatic. “I can read you the exact text… Tuesday, June 30th, at 7:12 ‘I’m hearing Bron is coming to the Miami Heat, just giving it a heads up. You may want to check It out.’”

If the Heat secure a reunion with James, they're bound to receive a handful of nationally-televised games from the NBA.
