Suarez has not started since July 5, when he injured his groin. He pitched just two and two thirds of a inning i nthe game, giving up six hits and three runs. Still, he has been solid for the Red Sox this year. He is 4-3 with a 3.15 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP on the season.

Eduardo Rivera will be making his third start in place of Suarez. In his first start, he went three and two-thirds innings, giving up just one hit and two walks. He would not give up a run as the Red Sox won the game over the New York Mets, 4-0. His second start was against the Tampa Bay Rays on July 17. He went two and a third innings, giving up three hits, two walks, and a home run. Rivera also gave up three runs, but the Red Sox still took a 5-3 victory.

The Red Sox are now 51-48 on the year, which still places them six games out of the lead in the AL East. Still, they hold the third wild card spot in the American League, and have a one-and-a-half-game lead over the Texas Rangers for that final spot.  The Red Sox will continue their series against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.
