The Philadelphia 76ers made a blockbuster move this offseason, acquiring All-Star guard Jaylen Brown in a trade with the Boston Celtics. While 76ers fans won’t get to see Brown in his new jersey and on the court until the fall, in the meantime they can follow along with his offseason exploits via social media.
While he is awaiting his 76ers debut, Jaylen Brown took a dabble in another sport, playing some baseball while visiting the Dominican Republic, highlights of which he posted to his social media account. In his posted clip, he got a base hit while at bat, making it first base.
Although it’s fun to see NBA players partake in other offseason activities, 76ers fans have plenty of reason for excitement as the months count down to the 2026-27 season. Brown is coming off the best year of his career during which he led the Celtics to a top-two finish in the Eastern Conference amid Jayson Tatum’s injury recovery.
He appeared in 71 games at a little over 34 minutes per game, and was a solid MVP candidate. He averaged a career-best 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.0 steals with splits of 47.7 percent shooting from the field, 34.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 79.5 percent shooting from the free-throw line. He also led the league in 2-point shot attempts at 16.0.
If, and that’s a big if, Joel Embiid is healthy next season, the 76ers boast a formidable quartet of Brown, Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. This past season, the Sixers defeated the Celtics in seven games in the opening round of the NBA playoffs before being swept in the Eastern Conference Semifinals by the New York Knicks.
