Rare Porsche, RUF, and Singer 911s up for sale at the Quail next month

The Porsche community has had quite the glow-up over the last decade or so. Once cars for the well-off and quick to fawn over minute build sheet differences, the increasing widespread awareness of the company's engineering brilliance has only resulted in the broadening of the enthusiast base.

The subsequent price spikes in special builds and custom or commissioned recreations have been nothing short of spectacular, and that's no more evident than in this arrangement of Porsche, RUF, and Singer cars being offered by Broad Arrow at the upcoming Quail event this August in California.

First up is the 2024 RUF SCR 'Mary Stuart' commission, which is estimated to go for $2,500,000 - 2,800,000. This is the car's first time for sale, and one of only six 'Mary Stuart' spec models which are named after the 1973 works Carrera RSR cars that are "reminiscent of the high ruff collar worn by Mary, Queen of Scots." The car has a 4.0-liter flat-six engine and there's only 176 miles on the odometer. The exterior is draped in Paint-To-Sample Ultra Violet, and the interior has RUF-branded lightweight bucket seats, lightweight door panels, a custom valved exhaust and ‘Mary Stuart' script on the rear shelf.

Next up is the 1990 RUF BTR III Cabriolet, which Broad Arrow Auctions is putting up for sale in the $800,000 - 950,000 range. This is the final of the BTR III (Gruppe B Turbo RUF) era, and the car has only 45,625 kilometers on it. The paint is Iris Blue Metallic with a perfectly matching Dark Blue leather interior paired with Recaro C-Classic seats. Better yet, there's a matching-numbers 3.4-liter 408-horsepower turbo flat-six and ultra-rare six-speed RUF transmission with limited-slip differential.

This is a story of increasingly tough acts to follow, but the 1994 Porsche 911 RUF RCT EVO Speedster is a good one to come next. Estimated to go for $800,000 - 950,000 and living as one of the very few Type 964 Speedsters ever converted to RUF spec, it was overhauled with a comprehensive restoration by RUF in 2015 and a RUF Carrera Turbo (RCT) Evo conversion in 2024. Power is from a turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six good for around 420 horsepower, and that's paired with a six-speed manual transmission. In traditional Porsche fashion, the paint is Guards Red over a black interior.

One of the most modern cars here-- and the final of the RUF vehicles-- the 2013 RUF Rt35 might not look like much compared to the others, but it's a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 630 horsepower and 609 lb-ft of torque and putting power through a seven-speed PDK transmission. This is one of only 35 cars under the Rt35 moniker, and this particular example has only 9,900 miles on it. Broad Arrow is expecting it to pull $600,000 - 700,000.

Moving to the Singer side of the Broad Arrow Auctions, first up is the 1990 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – Classic Turbo Services ‘Aurum Verde Commission.' Expect big numbers for this one, to the tune of $1,500,000 - 1,800,000. This car is one of the first turbocharged cars Singer built, and it has a 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six engine good for 503 horsepower, with only 8,449 miles on it.

This specific car was tested at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, across continental Europe, and Australia, and is finished in Nice Green Metallic over Cognac leather interior with Pascha-style Bespoke woven leather seat inserts. It also comes with the prestige of the car having been featured in Evo, Top Gear, and the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Next from Singer is the 1990 Porsche 911 Coupe Reimagined by Singer ‘Los Angeles Commission.' This fully bespoke Classic Study car has only been driven 8,000 miles (Author's Note: Who in their right mind would buy this and not drive it at every single opportunity?) and is finished in Paint-To-Sample Namib Yellow with ghosted racing stripes over a Bone White and Black leather interior.

This $1,100,00 - 1,300,00 car is powered by a 4.0-liter air-cooled flat-six engine built by Ed Pink Racing that makes plenty-healthy 390 horsepower. There's a six-speed manual gearbox, a limited-slip differential, Öhlins Sport two-way adjustable dampers, and all the makings for "the perfect canyon car."

The 1990 Porsche 911 Targa Reimagined by Singer "Coconut Grove Commission" is another high-dollar car, with estimates in the $1,100,000 - 1,300,000 range. It features Singer Racing White paint, a Ruby Targa top, and a Dark Plum interior.

Since this is a Targa, it's one of the rarest Singer cars built. The original owner has only put 55 miles on the car (Author's Note: Again, fairly criminal) and is listed "effectively as-new." It's only one of 30 Classic examples specified with the "Motorsports" 4.0-liter air-cooled flat-six, and under the hood are champagne-colored velocity stacks and a titanium muffler.

Ever wanted a hyper-rare 1988 Porsche 959 Komfort? This is your chance, and the car here is one of only 266 Komfort versions produced. This German-market car has 20,751 kilometers and is one of only 34 painted in Graphite Metallic.

This is a full numbers-matching car, so expect the price to be in the $2,650,000 - 2,950,000 range. The car recently also got a comprehensive service as well as a recommissioning and 959 suspension upgrade by Canepa in 2024, all of which cost an eye-watering $240,000. A few prestigious Porsche collectors have already had their time with this car, so if you have the money, maybe yours is next.

Buyers at The Quail can also bid on a 1995 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, but you'll have to bring $700,000 - 900,000. This car comes from the famous Todd Blue Collection and is one of only 14 Exclusive Department cars that Porsche built during the 911's 993 generation (and specifically in the 911 Turbo Cabriolet line). Specifically, it was built as a special request from Fritz Haberl, Managing Director of MAHAG Porsche Munich.

Under the hood is a matching-numbers 3.6-liter turbocharged engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. This car is painted in Midnight Blue Metallic and "is one of the rarest ever produced by Porsche and was unavailable in the U.S. when new, making it even rarer still."

Last but not least is a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder. This car is finished in Paint to Sample Grey Black over a Leather to Sample white leather interior. It's one of only 300 U.S.-market 918 Spyders built, and it has options like Front Axle Lift System, Carbon Fiber Interior Package and is fitted with Lightweight Weissach magnesium wheels.

Porsche considers this car a full 'To Sample' spec, and the car has only done 5,635 miles. It comes with all of the original equipment and accessories, too. The anticipated selling price? Broad Arrow Auctions puts the estimate at $3,250,000 - 3,750,000.
