With audiences eagerly awaiting the release of The Batman — Part II, which was recently delayed to Feb. 18, 2028, there is a new Batman film on the horizon. No, it is not the Brave and the Bold film set in James Gunn's DCU. Instead, it is a new animated trilogy based on the Caped Crusader's most iconic comic storylines, one that will push the limits in a way no live-action Batman film has, as it will be rated R.
Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Batman: Knightfall — Part 1: Knightfall. The trailer reveals that the animated film will be released digitally on Aug. 25. It will be released on physical media formats like 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on Sep. 8. Batman: Knightfall — Part 1: Knightfall will screen at San Diego Comic-Con ahead of its digital release. Batman: Knightfall is an ambitious three-film adaptation of the 1993–1994 story arc published by DC Comics. The storyline saw Bane breaking Batman's back, leading to the vigilante Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael to take on the mantle of Batman while Bruce Wayne built up his strength to don the cape and cowl once more. The story served as the inspiration for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.
Batman: Knightfall will adapt the three stories that made up the trilogy in the comics, with Part 1 adapting "Knightfall", Part 2 adapting "Knightquest," and Part 3 being "KnightsEnd." Currently, no release dates have been given for Parts 2 or 3. The movie will be directed by Jeff Wamester, whose credits include Justice League: Warworldand Green Lantern: Beware My Power. Jeffrey Adams, who previously wrote Justice Society: World War II and Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons, wrote the screenplay for Batman: Knightfall — Part 1: Knightfall.
Batman: Knightfall — Part 1: Knightfall stars Anson Mount (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds)as the voice of Batman. Michael Mando, who will play Mac Gargan / Scorpion in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is signed on to voice Bane. Pablo Schreiber (Halo) will voice Azrael. Bruce Boxleitner (Tron) will voice Commissioner Gordon. The Long Walk's Jack Giffin will voice Robin. More voice actors and details about the upcoming two films are expected to be announced soon, potentially at San Diego Comic-Con, with the film's panel set for 10:00 A.M. PT on Saturday, July 2. at Hall H.
