Headbands of all types have been having a resurgence—from the stretchy styles of the ’80s to the hard tortoiseshell styles of the ’90s that Carolyn Bessette Kennedy made chic. And now, even the cool, young royals are incorporating them into their wardrobes.
Today, Belgium’s Princess Eléonore joined her family for a celebration of Belgium’s National Day in Brussels, which included a military and civil parade. For the occasion, the 18-year-old was lovely and sophisticated in a powder-blue midi dress with a high neck and breezy short sleeves. She kept the color scheme of her look muted, pairing the piece with glossy beige slingback heels and a matching little clutch bag. But the most eye-catching accessory was her chunky, rounded headband, which also came in a smooth, golden beige and held back her easy blonde waves.
Abstract gold earrings with white drop pearls were the princess’ only jewelry pieces; and for makeup, she went fresh and natural, with a glossy, clear manicure (a nail style that is very hot right now).
Eléonore is the youngest daughter of Belgium’s King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. Her three siblings are: Princess Elisabeth (Duchess of Brabant), 24, Prince Gabriel, 22, and Prince Emmanuel, 20.
Eléonore walked arm-in-arm with brother Gabriel—who wore his military uniform—to arrive at the important event today. Emmanuel, meanwhile, was dapper in a three-piece suit look, while queen-to-be Elisabeth (expected to be the country’s first queen regnant) wore a sleeveless white cocktail dress with a matching wide-brim hat and other white accessories.
