Prince Harry's speech shows lack of confidence as weak moment gives him away

Body language expert Scott Rouse believes Prince Harry's gestures and movements betrayed a 'lack of confidence' during his recent TIME100 Sports Gala speech.

Prince Harry has experienced a whirlwind month.

He traveled to the UK, where he promoted the Invictus Games, suffered defeat in his most recent legal challenge against the media, and facilitated a meeting between Meghan Markle, their children, and his father, King Charles.

Following his return to the United States, Harry attended the TIME100 Sports Gala in New York City without his wife, joining notable figures including basketball legend LeBron James and skier Lindsay Vonn. This comes as Harry's mood reportedly "changed" before seeing his dad, King Charles III.

While Harry continued advocating for the Invictus Games, an expert has suggested the duke's body language revealed underlying insecurity despite his verbal presentation.

This assessment comes from established body language specialist Scott Rouse, who has received training with the FBI, Secret Service, and U.S. Military Intelligence.

According to Scott, Harry demonstrated several telltale signs that exposed his diminished confidence while addressing the crowd, particularly through his "lip compression."

He explained on his YouTube channel, "We see lip compression; this happens almost every time he finishes one of his points."

The specialist also observed that Harry repeatedly stepped backward on stage, which he interprets as indicating uncertainty about his message.

One moment looked 'a little bit weak' to the expert

Scott explained, "This is classic Harry giving a speech; he'll step forward as he's saying something, then he takes that big step back. That normally shows a lack of confidence; we're probably going to see that a whole lot more.

"He's trying to make a profound statement like the British Army made him who he is. It just looks a little bit weak to me because he just backs up.

"He backs up as he starts a statement (about his war experiences), and his hand goes in his pocket. When we hide our hands or thumbs, that lets everyone know that our confidence is really low. He's backing up almost the whole time, and then what do we see again? Lip compression."

Harry attended the event alone, without Meghan Markle, who had traveled to the UK with their children to meet with King Charles and Queen Camilla, reports the Express.

Scott quipped that perhaps Meghan serves as the "secret power" behind Harry's self-assurance.

Beyond the lip compression and concealed hands, the body language expert identified additional indicators of Harry's apparent lack of confidence.

He continued, "A few things going on here, you see that big kick come out. It's one of his signature moves; we've seen it plenty of times before. That suggests he's trying to show he has confidence. Confidence enough to stick his leg out there and move forward.

"His elbows are close to his side; they're close to his torso. Most of the time you see that when someone is lacking confidence, like in a situation like this."
