Prince Harry apparently has high hopes to get back in the royal fold.

Following the Duke of Sussex’s recent reunion with father King Charles III and stepmother Queen Camilla, a Monday, July 20, report in Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack claims that he has thought about potentially working for the monarchy again — but outside of Britain.

“Harry believes an overseas role, particularly in Australia, would allow them to serve the King while keeping the life he has built with Meghan [Markle] and the children,” said an insider, noting that his wife has “no interest in moving back to Britain.”

Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, publicly stepped back from the monarchy and gave up their senior royal duties in 2020, when they moved to California.

Since then, the Sussexes have raised their children — son Prince Archie, 7, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 5 — in America. Until recently, it had been years since the kids met with their grandfather, 77, in person.

Getting back in with the royals may be good for his family, and a role outside of the United Kingdom is not entirely uncommon. Edward VIII was king of the U.K. from January 1936 until he abdicated in December of that year. Edward, who became the Duke of Windsor, was later appointed Governor of the Bahamas.

Regardless, a royal source claimed, “The Palace isn’t entertaining the idea.”

According to the royal source, the late Queen Elizabeth II “made it crystal clear there would be no half-in, half-out arrangement. That policy didn’t end with her.”

Still, a second source told Shuter that “Harry thinks there’s a creative compromise,” even though the Crown is “not going to reinvent the monarchy for one family member.”

While the Spare author “may still dream of being a working royal again,” a second source said, “that chapter has already been closed.”

As In Touch previously reported, Charles and Camilla, 78, hosted the Sussexes on July 10 at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, England.

Though Harry was back in the United Kingdom, it appears as though he had no communication with his estranged brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Princess Kate.
