Prince William and Kate Middleton’s firstborn is officially a teenager.
The Prince and Princess of Wales marked Prince George’s milestone birthday with a portrait on Wednesday, taken by photographer Matt Porteous.
“Happy 13th Birthday, George! 🎉” the two captioned the photo, which showed George in a dark suit and white button-down, smiling at the camera.
The couple also released a video of the future king climbing on rocks and playing around at the beach with his brother and the family’s dogs.

George Alexander Louis was born at 4:24 p.m. on July 22, 2013, at St Mary’s Hospital in London.

She said she and William struggled with the idea of transferring their baby, who was in a swaddle, into a car seat for the very first time.
“We were like: ‘What do we do? He’s going to be in a swaddle. How is this even supposed to work?’” Kate said during an appearance on the “Happy Mum, Happy Baby” podcast in 2020.
Now, the parents of three are preparing to send George to Eton College, which his father and Prince Harry both attended. The 13-year-old will start school there in September.
