And when it comes to cream cheese brands, one reigns supreme: Philadelphia. The cream cheese company has almost every kind of cream cheese one can ask for. There’s the classic flavor in tub and block—plus a multitude of sweet and savory flavors, from cinnamon and mixed berries to smoked salmon and chives. Philadelphia doesn’t stop there, though. The brand also offers dessert options, including cheesecake fillings, whole cheesecakes, and even frosting.

But despite that array, there still isn’t a cream cheese for everyone—the lactose intolerant crowd is left out of all the creamy goodness. Philadelphia, however, wants everyone to enjoy its products, which is why it’s releasing a new cream cheese for everyone to enjoy, free of lactose-induced pain.

Philadelphia Releases New Lactose-Free Cream Cheese

A lactose intolerance or sensitivity will no longer stop you from enjoying the biggest brand in cream cheese, because Kraft Heinz is releasing Philadelphia Lactose Free. It’s Philadelphia’s classic cream cheese without the lactose. 

Philadelphia’s lactose-free cream cheese uses the same milk and cream as its standard cream cheese, promising the same tangy taste and smooth texture. The ingredients do mean, however, that this is not a dairy-free cream cheese. Philadelphia Lactose Free includes a lactase enzyme designed to negate lactose-based effects, but it still isn’t safe for those with a dairy allergy.

Instead of the cream cheese brand’s signature silver packaging, Philadelphia Lactose Free will be housed in a sky blue box with a silver “Lactose Free” label to make the two easily distinguishable. The lactose-free alternative will hit grocery store shelves in August, meaning the anti-lactose crowd won’t have to wait too much longer for this beloved cream cheese.
