She is the sweetest Grandma!

Puppies are some of the most confident creatures to exist. At just 5 weeks old, one tiny Golden Retriever puppy was convinced she could get her grandma dog to play with her. After being gently turned down, she opted to turn her into the world's fluffiest jungle gym — and she couldn't have shown more patience while she did.

A recent Instagram Reel shared by @cbenglishcreams captured the sweet interaction between Lucy, a mature English Cream Golden Retriever, and her adventurous grandpuppy.

While three other puppies happily romp around the grass in the background, this little one has her sights set on the older dog, and Grandma Lucy's up for the challenge.

The curious puppy eagerly approaches Lucy, hoping she'll join in a game of bitey, wrestling fun. She responds with gentle correction, calmly placing one paw over the puppy's head as if to say, "Take it easy now, little one."

The caption sums up the moment perfectly, joking that the older dog let the puppy "have its moment..." before going on to say, "That's adorable, kid. Call me when you've paid taxes."

The tiny pup isn't phased a bit. Moments later, she's climbing all over Lucy, scrambling around in her thick white fur like she's her own personal playground. Rather than getting up or walking away, patient Lucy simply lies there enjoying her intense puppy paw massage.

Set to Thurston Harris' classic Little Bitty Pretty One, the video is beyond precious, and viewers couldn't get enough of Lucy's sweet demeanor.

"So beautiful. Patient Grandma gently disciplining boisterous junior ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️," one person wrote. "I love how there's still such a thing as Grandma love in dogs and puppies," another gushed.

Why Are Golden Retrievers So Gentle With Puppies?

Golden Retrievers are widely known for their friendliness, patience, and low-stress demeanor. The way that Lucy acted with her energetic 5-week-old granddog is the perfect example of why. According to the American Kennel Club, the breed is known for its gentle, intelligent, and eager-to-please temperament, making Goldens especially patient with both people and other dogs.

Adult dogs often help teach puppies appropriate manners through gentle and calm interactions rather than rough behavior and aggressive growling. Lucy's brief correction at the beginning of the video highlights that kind of communication between a mature dog and young puppy.

Of course, every dog has its own personality, and slow, careful, and supervised interactions between adult dogs and puppies are best for everyone at first.
