Police in Harrison are reminding residents to secure their cars after multiple unlocked cars were entered and two stolen in a pair of larceny sprees in West Harrison this summer allegedly by two New York City residents.
Michael Ramos, 25, of Staten Island, and Jahmilla Meade, 21, of the Bronx, were charged with second-, third- and fourth-degree grand larceny, all felonies, following their arrest after the second spree on July 17, according to a Harrison police news release posted on Facebook.
Ramos and Meade allegedly stole items from multiple unlocked cars on June 25 before stealing a car that had been unlocked with the key inside. That car was recovered the following day in the Bronx.

Early on July 17, they allegedly returned to the same area and took items from additional unlocked cars. But police responded immediately when a witness reported what was happening. When officers arrived there was a foot pursuit. Meade was taken into custody and Ramos drove off in her car. He was arrested in the Bronx later that day.
Police urged residents to lock their cars, never leave keys inside unattended vehicles and to keep valuables out of plain view. The news release did not detail how many cars were entered, the streets where the thefts occurred or the specific cars that were allegedly stolen and messages to police officials were not immediately returned.
The most serious charge, second-degree grand larceny, is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Meade, who was additionally charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, was released without bail and was due back in Town Court on July 21.
Ramos is also facing a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. He remains held at the Westchester County Jail on $7,500 bail, $20,000 bond or $50,000 partially secured bond. He is due back in court on Aug. 18.
