The Packers‘ young and homegrown star power and depth is a major source for optimism this season, but general manager Brian Gutekunst and staff have also made some targeted acquisitions to bolster the roster this past offseason.
With the 2026 season nearing, veteran depth could be an asset for Green Bay, in an NFC North division that figures to be among the most competitive in football.
Packers’ Benjamin St.-Juste named to NFL All-Backup Team
Over at ESPN, Bill Barnwell went through an exercise, building out an NFL team comprised only of backup players, with St.-Juste making the cut among cornerbacks.
“The Packers are usually a reliable source for talented depth,” Barnwell writes for ESPN. “But this year, we’re going for one of their free agent additions on a low-cost contract. St-Juste was a promising cornerback in Washington before falling out of the starting lineup in 2024. The Canadian wisely chose to join the Chargers last offseason, where he was one of the many defensive backs to revitalize their careers under Jesse Minter, allowing a 68.3 passer rating in coverage across 356 snaps. St-Juste’s 6-3 frame makes him a valuable option on the outside for our defense.”
While this offseason lacked the bombast of recent years that saw the Packers trade for Micah Parsons and sign the likes of Xavier McKinney and Josh Jacobs in free agency, targeted moves such as signing St.-Juste and trading for Zaire Franklin could pay massive dividends in 2026.
