One Jaguars player to watch at offensive line in training camp

With training camp for the Jacksonville Jaguars getting closer, which players should be on our radars as these practices and preseason games unfold?

As part of our training camp preview, we'll be highlighting one player from each position group to keep your eyes on. In some instances, it may be one of the Jaguars' top players that we'll be watching closely, or it could be a player fighting for playing time or a roster spot.

Up next is the offensive line unit.

Jaguars' offensive lineman to watch during training camp: Patrick Mekari

Mekari is the presumed starter at right guard for the Jaguars, but he may have some competition for those snaps. John Shipley of Jaguars on SI highlighted four positional battles to watch during training camp, one of which was at right guard between Mekari and Wyatt Milum.

Shipley wrote that Milum is in a "good place to compete with Mekari" for a starting role.

Mekari's experience and versatility will be valuable and could give him the upper hand. That said, more consistency will be needed this season. He ranked 63rd out of 83 eligible guards in run-blocking grade. In pass protection, he gave up 34 pressures -- the 12th-most among guards -- and two sacks, ranking tied for 58th in pass-blocking efficiency.

A strong showing in training camp will be important for Mekari to maintain his role as a starter.
